They were making a small number of cars and not concerning themselves whether those cars were actually making money. Now they are mass-producing the model 3 and their investors expect big profits. It remains to be seen whether they can do that without letting quality fall by the wayside.

I guess that’s why they’re putting the finishing touches on the soon coming mid engine corvette with a probable revamped pushrod engine which has powered the normal corvettes since forever due to the lower height of build and signature dinosaur growl that only a pushrod V8 is capable of creating – while it sips away at gasoline – and will, at best, be just another offering in the mid engine supercar category – but at a value of about $170K instead of the upper $200K and beyond that the well known mid engine cars sell at. Heaven forbid they use some of that new high tech talent to put instantaneous power to the wheels with super electric assist motors right on the wheel and added to AWD to boot. No, because then it would be ticketed at north of 225K or so. For a chevy. With a gas engine. All while revamping their employee list for the future of self driving electric vehicles .
